Neuropsychological Assessments

A psychological assessment is a comprehensive process that examines an individual’s social, emotional, physical, and behavioural symptoms. A psychological assessment can be helpful in identifying unhelpful symptoms and/or patterns that perpetuate and maintain dysfunction.

Some of the areas and conditions I assess are:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Comprehensive psychodiagnostic & mental health assessment

  • Personality and interpersonal functioning

  • Gender Dysphoria & Gender affirming surgery readiness (2nd assessor)

  • Trauma and dissociation, including PTSD, complex trauma & DID

Individuals seek a mental health or psychodiagnostic assessment to identify or clarify a mental health diagnosis. Part of psychological assessments can also help understand personality and interpersonal functioning (e.g., self-esteem, emotional regulation capacity, attachment style).

Psychodiagnostic or mental health assessments involve both clinical interviews and the administration of standardized psychological questionnaires. The interview and questionnaires are used in combination to help me understand the nature of your difficulties. The results can be used to guide treatment planning, provide accommodations in occupational or academic settings, and/or help you gain access to a variety of community programs.

The average cost for a psychological assessment is $1540-$1750 but this can vary depending on your individual needs. You can ask us for a specific quote.

Gender Affirming Surgery Readiness Assessments

I am qualified to act as a “second assessor” for Gender Affirming Surgery Readiness Assessments (or SRS) for OHIP funding applications. I practice in accordance with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care (SOC 7).

Neuropsychological assessments are helpful in treatment planning for people experiencing difficulties with memory, attention, executive function, academic functioning, language, or other aspects of cognition or behaviour. A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment will help you understand and formally document your medical or psychiatric condition, such as brain injury and progressive neurological conditions. A neuropsychological assessment can also help determine the impact that psychiatric symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis) may be having on your cognitive, academic, and social functioning.

Some of the domains I assess are:

  • Developmental and Learning Disabilities, including:
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    • Learning Disabiltiies
    • Intellectual Disabilities, Disability eligibility
  • Disability, injury & accident
  • Independent Medical Exams (IMEs)
  • Neurological disorders and acquired brain injuries (e.g., brain tumour, concussion, epilepsy, stroke)
  • Educational pursuits/accommodations (Psychoeducational assessment)

A typical assessment involves an interview, 5-8 hours of formal assessment (e.g., paper-pencil tasks), and feedback session; a total of 10-15 hours. Part of this work involves providing you with practical recommendations that may be useful in helping you adjust to new ways of living. The average cost for a neuropsychological assessment is between $2500 and $3000, but this can vary depending on your individual needs. You can ask us for a specific quote.
